Hey cbn1000 thank's for the reply, that helps clear it up a little bit.But on the flip side of that coin it hurts a power team to play down like that and if you look around at your team you guys have some quality power hitters and it hurts you guys to have to hold them back with 0/hr in a E tourny I think this bat tourny should have showed you that!!

What level you play in league has no bearing on your sanction. Most teams play up for better competition. We are an E team but haven't played an E league for about seven years.

We found that out this week-end when a team that plays in a Kolping league in the C/D was allowed to play. When we entered the tournament we received the third degree about a sanction card! Meanwhile the “Park Director” hosting the tournament will allow a team which plays at his park, in his own C/D league, to play!!!! Never again at KOLPING!!!!! We have played there twice this year and have hosed both times. Once because an umpire didn’t know the rules and let a fellow umpire on the other team’s bench, make the call. They just happened to be cousins! I understand “take care of your own” but, don’t set tournaments!!!!! I will pay a $5 dollar gate fee to play in a well ran park.
Expressway and Queen City you’ll be seeing us for the rest of the year!!!! Good job Kevin, keep sticking it to all of us. That’s why there is no competition in your park! Its great place for beginners, that why you’re there!!!!!!!!

I’m not saying the tournament was stacked. But don’t give my team crap about the rules and sanction card procedures and allow the upper teams from your personal park play. We finished 2-2 and we should have won the games we lost. We were told by the USSSA Cincinnati Director that your park director sets your sanction level. What would Kevin section Watanabe? How can you be an E team for seven years? Do you play for Kevin? You would think in seven years you would have gotten a little better.

blah, blah, blah, blah............Anytime you have a prize such as bats, big money, etc. you are going to have teams dropping down just to win. It is going to happen so just go out and play your game, then when you beat the upper teams cause they can't keep it in the park you can rub it in their face. Quit bitching and play ball is all I can say.
As for playing E for seven years, it has taken us that long to get rid of all the head cases on the team and pick up some real players. We have a new Asst. Manager this year, and if I don't say so myself he is doing a hell of job. But our team runs the manager not the manager running the team. HaHa EXP23!!!!

My team (Bayes & Sons / KODIAKS) plays at kolping alot...... we knew going into this tourney there would be quite a few teams that would drop down at the prospect of winning bats. Anyone that expects otherwise is kidding themselves. We would have had a better chance had we had our entire team there, had to pick up 4 guys :(, but I digress. Don't blame Kevin or insinuate that he doesn't know what he is doing. He has always ran good tournaments as well as leagues and knows what he is doing. I'm not sure why he would let one of his c/d teams join, but I am sure he had a reason. Maybe they don't play that well and he knows that. Maybe he had to in order to fill up the tourney and make it possible to recover the cost of the bats for the tourney. My main point is we all expected teams to drop down and get into the tourney, but I didnt see any unbeatable teams. The only negative I saw from the tourney was Kevin and Kelly and ALL OF KEVINS FAMILY wearing Watson's shirts........ And rest assured Kevin I won't let you live THAT one down. That's my 2 cents. and that's about all it is worth.

Hey I think we all know that there are way to many teams that play in a E league or D league that don't belong and there can be so many differnt reasons we could talk about it all day but the biggest one out there is PRIDE alot of teams fell that if they don't win 90% or more of there games "'there not the team to beat"" so that is how some teams justify what they do. But hey let's all look on the bright side there are now more than ever more E teams out there that can take it to a C or D team's than ever and so on and so on!!

You are correct. I will not tell you who I play for. My personal opinions may or may not reflect how my team feels. Yes, I was upset, we were told by Kevin, “You guys are no E team! I sick of complaints of team’s sand bagging here. Everyone MUST have a sanction card this weekend!” Then he let’s a team from his own park do it. If he really wanted to stop sand bagging @ KOLPING he should have started with teams from his own park? That’s the grip! I don’t care how good anyone’s E team is? Just run it right, just run it fair.

Once again, it doesn't matter what level you play in league. You are a pansy if you play an E league because most E league teams can't field routine fly balls. My team plays D league and are sanctioned E. If we played in the E league for league night we would be going home after four innings. A lot of E teams play in C leagues, get over it.

Dude get your head checked! I am talking about E LEAGUES! You know, League Night? I have watched plenty league games while waiting to play, we are talking teams that are in E leagues, most of which never play tourneys, and the majority of them have mabey one or two decent players and the rest suck.
You have the wrong team if you are talking about my team. Apparently you have mistaken us with someone that played decent that day because we were 1-2 and the only game we won was in extra innings. Once again you are correct! You just don’t get the point. One more time for all the
“Teddy’s” out there…… Kevin has seen us play earlier this year. He feels that we are not an “E” team. Just like the team that has played “E” for seven years, we are also sanctioned “E.” Why are we sanctioned “E”? Because we play in an “E” LEAGUE!!!!! We were told by the Cincinnati USSSA director that the park that you play LEAGUES @ sanction your team by the level that you play during LEAGUES!!!!
No, we didn’t not “plead” to anyone, our sanction card spoke for us. The complaint is…….we are sanctioned “E”, we play in an “E” LEAGUE, so we should not have to be hassled about or sanction. We defiantly shouldn’t have to play a “C/D” team that plays league at the park hosting the tournament! When the “HEAD” umpire at KOLPING tells your coach, “they are a “C/D” team, and Kevin tells him to “shut his mouth,” that’s funny. WHAT A CLASS ACT GUY! Then when you protest after seeing the team name on his Monday night “C” league schedule, he tells you to leave the park or he’s calling the cops. We should have let him call the cops, and then he could have been arrested for robbing any team up there actually sanctioned “E”! We took the teams in questions sanction card number and looked it up. They are sanctioned “DDDDDD”!

What is the name of the team sanctioned D? One question, when you play up a level in qualifiers you get double points, right? Do they get 1/2 points for playing down?

You are supposed to play what you are sanctioned or higher. If the team in question is sanctioned D, I don't care how good or bad they are, they should not have been in it. The bottom line is it was an E tourney, in which only E teams are allowed. If anyone feels this in incorrect call Mark Linneman or read the U-trip rule book, that is why they sanction.
If this team wants to drop down there is a procedure to go about doing so. I am not sure but I think you have to play a couple NIT's and then appeal the sanction.
This still will not take care of the problem because all they have to do is enter a tourney and pay a sanction fee under a different name. A lot of teams sanction across the river in Kentucky because Ohio does things right as far as sanctioning teams for the most part. Wait until world and see how strict Ohio is compared to other states. I am speaking from experience.

This has been alot of interesting reading! I'll put my 2 cents in for what its worth. Last year our team played at Kolping in the "D" District Tournament, We were sanctioned "D" But lost in a tie breaker to a USSSA "C" sanctioned team! Just like the previous post. If its a D tourney then no C,B,or A teams allowed!!!!! But Kolping let them in. So if in fact the 1 team was sanctioned "D" They should never be allowed in an "E" tournament. No matter how good or bad they are. If they wanna play in "E" tournaments they need to appeal an get re-sanctioned. These park directors need to pay more attention, If your running a tournament the 1st thing that needs to be done before the draw is to check the sanction cards. If they don't have a sanction card then you're kind of stuck. But it would stop a higher sanctioned team from getting into these tournaments.

My team plays A and B leagues Thursday nights but we are sanctioned C and play C tournaments. I think this is a lot more common than you think. we take our lumps but hopefully we'll be more prepared for the weekends.
If they were sanctioned E then thats what they are sanctioned and they should be allowed regardless of their leagues.
Believe me, I've seen plenty of B teams playing sanctioned C the last few years. Heck, most times you play an NIT out of town you are almost guaranteed to play a "B" team that their local director slotted C.
It happens.
Listen, Ive known Kevin for a long time and I know he is a fair guy. Maybe instead of ripping him here, give him a call and discuss your concerns man to man. 851.5657
