I am asking for some advice. This year I bought a New Synergy Flex. I love the way the bat feels, but I am not getting the power I would like to get. I am relatively new to softball, but I do understand that most bats do have a break in period. I have shelved my synergy for a couple games and am drilling the ball with a year old Demarini. So please help me, I am sure, the Synergy is a wicked bat, but what is the best way for me to break it in, short of just using it in 2 different leauges? I do not have the time to swing at softballs all day, so I am looking for a quicker way. Someone suggested that I tape the bat up with athletic tape and hit it against a tree or telephone pole rotating it as I go. has anyone done that? Does it work? Does anyone have a more efficient way to break this bat in? Thanks for the help!

Get a couple people to go to Backstop sports batting cages and rent the pitching tunnel ($30 an hour) and hit real softballs.

The Flex really only needs about 100 swings to get hot (at least when I hit it), that's one BP session. BP is the best way to go. Hitting against poles or smacking it with a rubber mallet aren't the best way to go about breaking in a bat as neither is a good simulation of hitting a ball and will likely effect the durability of the bat.

Thanks so far... I have been to backstop sports several times, but I have only hit the rubber balls in the slow pitch cage. I didnt know you could hit in the pitching tunnels? You can actually throw softballs and hit? Still wondering if anyone out there as had any luck taping the bat and hitting it against a tree or pole? The guy who told me about it, said he has done it before and it works. I was just looking for a second opinion. Thanks!

Do not tape the bat. I have seen paint peel off when you take the tape off...not a pretty sight when it happens and you get pissed!

IMO, the new Flex bats are not to bad right out of the wrapper.
Maybe that's just me though.

I know it's "just a softball bat" but every bat has it's own feel and balance.
Maybe your just not used to it yet.

Don't beat you bat on a pole, yes it works, but it voids the warrenty.
I doubt Easton would ever know or could tell, but never the less...

No better way to break one in than real softballs, and I read on Eastons web site your not supposed to hit cage balls either.

Yeah, the one that was crying when Taz shot the middle during your 18-8 beatdown two weeks ago! Soccer sucks!

LOL!!

That was funny, yet ridiculous. We all know Bittner is middle hitter and doesn't hit the middle on purpose. Then you got an old man on the mound (Rutz.......sorry Donnie) and he peppers him??? That ain't cool. I think even you can admit to that.

Remember, that was just supposed to be a "friendly" tournament worth nothing.
