Since the Major is no more at the national level, would you be in favor as a fan of softball to have the Cincinnati Metro Major Division be turned into a true open where anyone from anywhere can come in and play?

No restricted players based on zip code. Any national sanctioned ASA team may enter.

Would teams come?

Would people watch?

This would be like the Super Shootout USED to be when it was a direct world berth. They would have to have some sort of incentive for the national teams to make an apperance. But, if they did it would be a heck of a tournament.

I'd like to see it!!

We all know Watanabe is good and is always around the top in Cincinnati, but how would they stack up against the outta towners?? I am sure they would welcome some new competition.

I agree but in this case, you would have the Metro crowds to add to the experience. I agree, you'd have to have an incentive to draw them in.

I also thought, 11 days is impossible to commit to so maybe you run this tourney the 2nd weekend.

I also think they should set it up for the finals of the other divisions to land on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon vs. into the next week. Just start two days earlier vs. playing two days later.

I like the idea of the open. I would love to watch some out of town teams compete agains Watanabe. As far as moving the finals so they land on a Saturday, I don't like the idea. I would say maybe start the tournament on a Wednesday instead of Thursday, but that is it. I loved the atmosphere last year playing on Thursday night to open it up and I only had to go to work one day with a hangover instead of two.

That is a good idea. The rumor out there is that Danney is going to combine the A & Major. That would not be a good idea, because there are only maybe 3 teams with a legitimate chance at winning the Major. Why would an A team want to play without a realistic chance of winning it.
