Just trying to figure out how TPE is playing in this " C " tournament and they played in the " A " in the Metro ????? I know that Danny would not let me take any players that played in the " A " metro with me two years ago when my team went ........

The city metro has nothing to do with national level ball. with that being said it depends on what day you catch saylor on as to what rules you are playing by.

Oh, I can guarantee you that the winner of this tournament is good enough to win our A metro. Thats just how it is nationally.

No one is trying to debate how good " C " teams are on the national level ...... without a doubt they could win our " A " and maybe the " Open " divison in our Metro . I just want to know when did the rules change as it pertains to Cincinnati teams going ?????

I guess I'll ask....does it really matter? TPE played B all year this year except for the Metro due to the move up rules based on their finish last year. Also - TPE went to the C National last year with the same team. I think if there was really a problem, you'd be hearing teams that are going complaining. It's not like Watanabe is suddenly going C.

I think it also depends on the player(s) in question. Some teams play up in the metro and wouldn't really be considered an "A" team, and those players would be okay. I think he's probably looking to see if the player(s) is an "impact" player at that particular level.
Pure speculation on my part, just trying to possibly shed some light.

My initial question is really not directed at TPE at all ..... my question was to how is a team that played in the " A " in the metro going to this national tourney. I have played angainst TPE numerous times and wish them all the best in the tourney I just don't like the different rules being given to certain teams.
It would be great to see one of these local teams win this tourney but like Larkin said the level of teams there are amazing.

I am new to some of this and the site and just have a son that plays for EAP. How is that the other National teams are so much better than the Cincy teams? Are they sending "A" players or are they just loaded with all super players? Is it UP and UP????

You would think that a C team in Cincinnati would be a C team in Las Vegas, Los Angeles or Houston. The fact is that the commissioners want to have bragging rights. They want teams in their territory to win, so they allow teams/players to compete below their level in attempt to bring home the trophy. It has been happening forever & it's not going to stop anytime soon. The guys who get the shaft in all of this is the true C team that legitimately earned a berth as a C team. So guys take a day or 2 off work, spend a few bucks on a hotel & travel. They are then rewarded for the sacrifice of their personal lives by playing against A & B teams & having no real chance of winning. Even the D & E events are loaded with A/B teams/players. It's pretty sad really. Unfortunately, there's virtually no way to repair it.

I kind of figured something like that was going on. My son has 78 HRs and 249 RBIs this year, is no slouch in my opinion and EAP has a good team. It just seems to me I remember them getting BURNED last year. One good thing is he could care less and loves the game and any type competition. I will have fun following it though and be behind Cincy all the way.

We played in the ASA C National last year. IMO, I didnt see one team that I thought was a C Metro team. The big difference, as stated earlier, is that local and national ranking are different. All of these teams down there are at least B Metro teams. But, keep in mind, the Metro is dictated by Danney. Im not saying he screws the whole thing up on classification, but the Metro is a completely different tourney. The biggest thing that stuck out in my mind last year is that a lot of these National type teams can keep the ball down and very hard a lot. There is a lot of base hitting and fundamental play involved than just whacking a homer. On the other hand, some of my teammates might think I am wrong?? Good luck to all the teams still playing for titles.....even you Cowboy!!

Got it now. All about maybe having bragging rights in Cincy to even get there and once you get there, just plan on playing a few games if lucky and spending time with friends and try to drink Hooter's out of beer. At least I get the drift of what it is all about now.

That's just it. It shouldn't matter where you are. A "C" team is a "C" team. Period. Not a "C" team in one city and an "A" team in another. The national's & world's are where the best teams of each division come to play. It should be legit. The national rankings are not different. We all live in the same country & follow the same rule book (Ok, so the parks change some of the rules in leagues & non-sanctioned events).
PS-Good luck to all of our local teams!!!

True, but it will never happen that way. I have never understood how you can be a B league team, but that makes you a C tourney team. Thats USSSA and ASA. Dunno

We (EAP/Western Hills Window) go to win. Some of our guys go early for a little R&R. But once we get to the tourny we want to win. Afterwards, we will drink beer with the best . But make no mistake, we take the tournament serious.
