ANNOUNCING THE SOUTHWEST OHIO SOFTBALL UMPIRES SCHOOL
Sponsored by the OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION and the METRO CINCINNATI AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCATION.
Open to all this is the only class of its kind in the nation – an opportunity to obtain your OHSAA officiating permit and ASA registration in a two day session and in time to start the season!
ONE SESSION ONLY
March 10 and 11, 2007 at Princeton High School, 11080 Chester Rd., Cincinnati (use the Sharon Rd. exit #15 from I-75). Class sessions will be from 8AM to 5PM and include instruction in OHSAA and ASA rules as well as umpire mechanics. This is a classroom and participation school designed to help new umpires learn as quickly as possible. Wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes – all sessions will be indoors. The OHSAA examination will be offered after the conclusion of the school.
Cost
Only $100 per student – includes all instruction, HS and ASA rulebooks and manuals, lunch each day, other class materials, testing fee, OHSAA permit, ASA registration fee and OHSAA/ASA insurance packages. Mail checks (payable to SWOSUS) with full name and address to Cincinnati ASA, 3016 Ambler Dr; Cinti, Ohio 45241. This will insure your space in the class and your books will be mailed to you in advance should you wish to study before the first class. This is suggested if possible.
Games
There is a tremendous need for new officials – games are plentiful and assigners are anxious to use class graduates. We will work to insure that you begin your career at a level where you are comfortable - whether it is school games or recreation softball. The class is targeting female and minority participants but is open to all. While most students have typically been adults OHSAA regulations now allows high school students of all ages to participate in these classes. Our instructional team has successfully trained hundreds of officials of all ages by using this popular and effective accelerated class schedule.
Other information
For additional information contact Class Director, Jerry Fick, at (513) 563-2755 or by email - swdoc@fuse.net. He will be joined by other OHSAA and ASA certified instructors who will give you individual and small group instruction in our mechanics sessions. In addition, OHSAA Assistant Commissioner Steve Neil will be our guest and will speak with the class concerning the important contributions participants can make to high school athletics.
Note - This class is also approved by the Metro Dayton ASA and the Ohio State ASA Associations. Out of town participants should call for hotel discount information
