anybody know what the local parks are doing for this. is there going to be some kind of outlined box to stay in? also it's going to seem really hard to keep it under 10 feet when pitching at the back of the 56 feet

.From what I am understanding, there is going to be a square box from the normal pitching rubber which is in front, the size wide 6" and 24" deep. You have to have 1 foot inside it when you release... Any of the directors should be able to give us the exact answer. Thats how it is stated and shown in the new USSSA rule book

Don't you have better things to worry about? Like getting the mail delivered on time for once.

I got an idea why don't we change the rules so you have to have a glove on both hands when you play defense or how about everyone has to wear a helmet when they pitch. whats next?

I, for one, don't see anything wrong with trying to protect the pitchers. They are the most vaunerable players on the field and have the highest risk of serious injury. Obviously, from that statement one can assume I am a pitcher. The days of the old unwritten rule of don't hit the middle are long past and I am one of thos pitchers that will do a lot of antics on the mound, which tends to get ya hit at a lot more, so any rules that are aimed at protecting the pitcher are welcomed. Don't get me wrong, I have a glove and am expected to field my middle, but I do have a job and family too and like all my teeth.

Is there more to the change than what I have read? I don't understand how the box is protecting a pitcher. Maybe by letting him move back and pitch from 2 feet farther? Is there more changes than the box?

not really sure...more of a response to the comment about treating pictures with kid gloves. hell i wouldn't mind a friggin cage in front of the mound LOL

Yes, I have a lot of respect for pitchers. Its not as easy as it looks and knowing people are shooting for you just makes it harder. but if it gives you a base hit and open up gaps you got to play that way.

if you can't protect yourself then you shouldn't be a pitcher. wear a cup and a helmet.

just saying it is different than it used to be. teams that see you aren't playing a 5 man will definately try to take advantage of it. like i said earlier, i do have a glove and some reflexes left, but with the bats out there today, it can be scary.

The new rule gives you from 50' to 56' to pitch from as long as your foot is in the rectangle.

It is exactly like ISA. You stay within the width of the rubber as long as any part of your foot is touching that 6' box.
