Just wondering if anyone else is upset with Kolping atfter letting Kevin go. I heard a lot of talk last night of teams saying they are going to leave after this session. I just hope they get al their **** together before they run the park into the ground.

My guess with this is that someone will end up coming in and start charging to get in. Sorry for the ranting.

We are having a team meeting this Sunday to discuss our future there. We've been there for several years and will more than likely move to a different park.

I've been a Kolping Member for a long time. They won't charge to get in.
What they did to Kevin was BS!

I know we ar thinking about leaving after this session to go somewhere else. I really believe that they will start charging to get in soon. I did hear a rumor that they a thinking of charging so that they can pave the parking lot out behind fields 1 and 2. Its just going to be a bad move any way you look at it

Some one told me that there was a dude at one entrance, on a Saturday, that was collecting a buck....for a Saturday Night Tourney they played in. But some of the guys on his team went in a different entrance, and no one was collecting. At the time, I laughed and told him he got screwed,...which I still believe, AND still laugh about .....but, maybe that was a prelude?

TIM!!!!....you are a Kolping-ite!...

Not sure where everyone is going to go. Most of the other parks
charge $3 to get in.

I'm sure "Beerface" ,(ooops, sorry SJ), I mean, "Kevin", was removed for a valid reason; -that or SJ bought the Park....? Kolping is a fine Park.

If they are surfacing the lots, then that's a good thing, and the $ charged (if any) will be a temp thing.

We were up there last weekend and they did charge $1 to get in. There was a guy walking around in the morning collecting from people who were already inside.

LOL That's not for you It's for a few Kolping board members! Read On.

It’s a shame that the catholic kolping society with a membership of over 1000 people. A park board of 6 and a general membership board of 10 people, the 10 elected by the members allowed 3 people in the main board to make this decision without trying to help kevin and solve the problem instead of making it worst.
Teams should think about playing at another park and yes after some investigating they are considering charging agate fee and making teams purchase balls.
Until a few members of the Board change their ways, Kolping will always have problems with their Park managers.
That’s my opinion and I’ve been at Kolping a long time!

This year was the first year where they started collecting a dollar just for tourneys. Leagues are still free. But I think instead of charging people to pave the gravel, they could take the gravel they call the infields and put some real dirt down. Nothing like sliding on sandpaper!!!

Come on Bellamy, You live at Kolping and you wear softball pants when its 110° out...hahaha Brian said Monday Night was your official first night ever wearing shorts, so "sliding" shouldn't be a problem for you because you have to get on base first!!!! You guys almost lost to the Skyline All Stars Monday, but only because you guys wanted to play with 9 and get more at-bats.....lol

I think we play you guys tonight at 8:40 Rumpke, so hopefully it doesn't rain and I'll see ya then. Ryan said you wanted to buy one of his synergy 2's off him???

Motiva.....did you say motivation? What is my motivation? Try a potential league title and sporty t. And do ya think Fall titles are just given away? No, they have to be earned. And how do you earn them? By busting you ash during the Spring / Summer so that when the time comes, and the ever elusive Fall Ball Title is on the line, maybe, just maybe, you will be good enough. Many GREAT players have gone their whole lives and never experienced a Fall Title. I have scaled the mountain and reached the summit mister, and as I gazed down upon people like you, I felt empty inside. But, than I remembered that I don't really like you that much, and I was all happy again. Happy and in a helicopter. Do you still want to know my motivation?

What happened to Kevin? I was there last night and I didn't hear a whisper about it...I hate to see someone lose their job if it's something they can't control but he hasn't exactly been the best to us either.

What Kolping did to Kevin was totally wrong. We moved their from playing @ K of C, due to Kevin. He treated us fairly and with respect. In fact he did that to alot of teams, teams really liked playing @ Kolping due to Kevin and when his family was able to work @ the concession stand. It is amazing how 1 man was able to clean the park, clean the restrooms, answer the phone, drag and line the fields, run the leagues and tournaments, and have polite and freindlyconcession help. It is hard to believe that 1 man was able to do the above and had to work 15 hours everyday. I have known Kevin since he took over the park 9 years ago and if they can fire him without notice and hire somebody the same day, how will they start treating their teams? I will not be around long enough to find out!!

Signed a long time softball player.

First i would like to thank kevin for all the things he did for me and my team over the past 5 years. kevin did so much for the park with limited resources, to let him go like that was a slap in his face and to all his family, friends and to the teams who supported kolping because of him. i know kevin did everything possible for any team who played up there and made everybody feel at home when they came to the park. at one point in time kolping was a laughing stock to ball players and kevin turned that around and still kept the reputation of a family oriented place to play softball. the people who did this to kevin has no respect for what he did for them. kevin was not about how much he could put in his pocket nor did he like that damm cat litter they have on the field, but once again it was not his fault but he did the best he could do with it. i don't know who is going to run the park but looks like things might get ugly again at kolping so therefore me and team will be leaving before we start to deal with the bu**s**t up there. if they can fire a man who put his everything into that park, how you think they going to start treating the teams up there????????????

ps. let's stand up for kevin because he did stand up for us!!!!!!!!!

I agree with everything you said. Kevin did bring respect back to Kolping and he did treat everybody fairly. I just wish that another park could use him as an assistant because I feel alot of the Kolping teams would follow him to another park for league and tournament play. I do know that he is waiting for someone to call him to help them out.

Tim,

You bring up some very valid points, and I know that Kevin would appreciate all of the support this thread is providing. Having known Kevin for damn near my whole life, It's safe to say that Kevin was only interested in making everyone else happy! Having said that, Kevin's primary goal at Kolping Park was to make it successful, and I belive he did just that! He was not given proper resources and how many park managers drag, line and cut the fields as he did? I never thought I would even think about playing anywhere else, other than Kolping on Tuesday Nites! I know one thing is for sure...This will be my team's last session up there! Kevin was relentless when it came to the time and effort he put in at the park. I do know specifics on what happened, and why he was fired, that I will keep to myself, but it is a bunch of BULL***** and he definitely got screwed out of this one. Yea Kevin may have made a mistake here and there, and scheduled a game wrong, or made the wrong decision, but deep down, Kevin is a very family oriented/unselfish man that only wants the best for everyone! The reason for his termination is a joke, and needs to be brought to the attention of people that can do something about it! I know we can take the first step and go elsewhere, but also voice our opinion to the Kolping Society! I know I'd be willing to do so!

Ok, so insidethepark who do we talk to??? I couldn't agree with you more, but I don't know any names or phone numbers. It's not like the people that made this decision read this board, nor could they understand it if they did. It needs to be put in their face, but names and numbers will be necessary. I think people on this website would be more than happy to stand up and support Kevin.

* I went up to kolping last night to introduce myself to the new "Kevin" his name is Jim. He is a former softball player and honestly i believe he will get some thing accomplished. He knew Keven and had nothing to say bad about him.

But as for some the rumors going around about the park:

There WILL NOT be any gate fee for leagues.
He is wanting to get rid of the gate fee on the weekend.
All batters boxes as of today are being redone.
All fields will be lined and ready to go.
All groundskeeping is now done by a professional service.

As for next years goals he told me:

New dirt
Re-sodding
and most importantly fix the lights.

I honestly went up to him with a bad impression, but after talking to him he is a really down to earth person. He basically wants us players to give him ideas and he wants to make us happy in anyway possible.

I will be talking to some of the teams that i know are wanting to leave and give them a more in depth conversation about this situation. If anyone has any questions about this either pm me, or you can always find me at the park.

We were actually trying to schedule to play in the USSSA C qualifer on Saturday at Kolping and he did not even know he was having one. Thats bad. I know he is new but there are schedules set for a reason. I called a couple times this week and he did not return my call until late yesterday afternoon to let me know that he was unaware of the tournament we were seeking to play. He told me on 2 different times he would call me back in 10 min. 3 hours later I had to call him back and inform him of where to find his own tournaments he was holding. I am glad we are not playing there because if the guy does not even know what tournamnets are going on is he really going to know where tio send the information for qualifing? I dont know why they let Kevin go but if they were planning on letting him go they should have waited till the ball season was over for the year or give the new guy time with Kevin till he got a firm grasp of what is going on so nothing is lost. Hopefully the new guy can keep things going there once he gets situated and has time to figure it out. But we wont be back until we see that he can. Kolping could be an even better place to play but only time will tell if the new guy is true to his word about fixing and changing somethings.

Way to go spanky. Bellamy it sounds like you are looking for a new job. Getting the batters box fixed is something Kevin kept trying to get fixed. And it is amazing how they have an umpire cleaning the park and who is the professional groundskeeper service? The fields still look the same. Everything the new guy wants will be interesting to see if it gets done.Is Kolping willing to put out the money now, they would not do it for Kevin when he had the same ideas.

It’s amazing how they support the new guy, when Kevin tried to get stuff for the park it was always an uphill battle. If he had run the soccer fields he could have had anything he wanted. Kolping is all about the Soccer, even though the softball made more money.
I don’t know the new guy, but I feel sorry for him, he’s coning into a tough situation.
Wish him the best of luck! In time he will face the same hurdles as Kevin.

Oh Yea! I’m also resigning from Kolping, due to the sad way they handled this whole Kevin thing. I’ll be sending them a letter of resignation, along with a reason.

Its not that i'm happy with what happened. I like Keven a lot, and he was always more than a friend to me and the teams i played on. But from the looks of it Kevin is not coming back to Kolping nor if i know Kevin, he wouldnt want to anyways. I just love to play softball, and kolping is free to get in. I would hate for it to go down and eventually turn into land for housing or something else. I'm very upset about what and how everything happened but as for leaving because of it we are going to stick around. I enjoy playing at kolping not just for the softball but also for how many friends i've made because of kolping.

Brandon
