You have to start somewhere and I really think this will take off at some point. Dave, Larks and others have put a lot of time and effort into this and it will pay off. There are so many examples of teams that are better suited for ASA, but play U-Trip. Why? Because, USSSA is way more organized than ASA, on a National level anyway. Hopefully, the ASA Grand Slam Series will go a long way to changing that locally.
I am not bashing USSSA, because that is a great association. Parks like Expressway and Eggleston also do a fantastic job. But, I believe this city is oversaturated with U-trip. Many teams play U-trip, because everyone else does and they want to compete with the best teams. Instead of being an also ran in U-trip, why not give ASA a try? You may be better suited for that style of play. Instead of playing in one of 50 U-trip tournaments, play ASA. If it doesn't work out, there will be 50 more U-trip tournaments to choose from the following weekend. It cracks me up when I see teams do well in the Metro, but continue to play U-trip and do nothing.
It's not going to happen overnight, but it's going to happen. There are a lot of good people working on it.

You make some good points, however it's not as much about over saturation on the Part of U-Trip, as it about just the all out lack of any kind of ASA tournament program, until now. I hope it does well. I can remember when we never played u-trip and now that's all we play. I'm sure we will stick our foot in the water at some point this year, and give it a shot.
The comment wasn't a shot at the principles involved, more toward the apathy of the organization in years past that has evolved in to a lack of interest.

I didn't take it as a shot at all. You just expressed what others were thinking. We are more suited for ASA than USSSA and we have no interest in changing personnel to make the transition. There has to be other teams in the same boat. It sucks, because since we play very little U-trip, we miss out on playing great teams like House Rules, Brock, Chico's...
The points system was a genius move. Teams are afraid to skip a U-trip tournament for fear they will fall behind one of their competitors. It's all a glory thing, because everyone's making the Nationals anyway. Again, this is no slam on USSSA, because if it suited us, that is where we would be.

I'll echo the sentiment that we are built for ASA too. It starts with the pitcher but also the volume of tournaments to keep up with the "Foulks" of the world.

It helps that you have one of the best ASA pitchers around. I heard he shut out a pretty damn good team last week. Any truth to that?
