Thanks to B-Pick on the Two and Out Board....

This is an interesting read....It's about ISA but the concept is worth the conversation.

Do you think we should have a middle ground class between C and B in USSSA?

Should we routinely re-class teams during the season?

I just think that opens up a big 'ol can of worms.I think the only way you can do that is if a teams adds players that would affect their classification. Otherwise, leave it alone.

I think you should wait till around middle or end of May to classify your team. How many teams every year put together a team and think they have a hell of a squad in whatever league and once they get to playing that year they find out thinks aren't clicking right or they are higher or lower then what they need to be. I guess mid season re-class would work but have all the extra paperwork and headaches. Give everyone a chance to see where they need to be then sanction them to a class.

I really don't like a 5 run spot between a C+ and a C-. I have been on some boards and noticed some states use the +,- for USSSA. I have to say I don't like it. I don't think more divisions is the answer. As far as mid-season re-class I would think only teams that the directors think are bubble teams. If the director is on the fence of letting a team play C then tell them up front that is the case and they may be subject to a mid-season bump. I can see issues with that as well. Especially for planning worlds and nationals in advance.

i say they should bump midseason

some teams withhold the truth or enter different names to beat the system

when in doubt of a border team, make them move up not down
