Here's what he's talking about:

Hope you check out the NEW Ad Softball World Series website promoting this October's tournament in Phoenix. You may like the upscale appeal of a 12-game guarantee, no elimination, and non-stop party for both competitive and recreational teams. The website is unlike anything you've seen in softball circles, and so is the tournament.

http://www.adworldseries.com

Enjoy our video from the 2007 Las Vegas tournament:
http://www.adworldseries.com/NEW/2007video.html

THUMBNAIL SKETCH DESCRIBING THE AD SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES
A long standing, independently run event that takes softball, team networking, and partying to a higher level - several notches higher, in fact. The event is headquartered at a different 4-star resort each Fall and played out over 5 days and four nights. All recreational and competitive teams are invited to play three days of softball in a round-robin format, new teams automatically qualify for four championships (division, city, regional, rookie), and everyone comes back to the hotel to enjoy elaborate afternoon beer gardens followed by networking buffet dinner parties and even more beer gardens and parties.

If you like what you saw on the website, then here's additional team, party, and merchandising facts about our 26th annual:

ABOUT PHOENIX 2008 – ON THE FIELD:
• October 18-22, 2008
• Spectacular fields headlined by the brand new replica fields of Big League Dreams;
• All teams seeded into divisions suitable to their desired level (3 Mens, 7 Co-ed, 1 Women's);
• Teams don't have to qualify or be affiliated with any registered softball association;
• Division championships determined the final day and every game counts!
• Awards: Marble team trophies are presented in the aforementioned divisions. Division champion players receive commemorative long sleeve T-shirts. Every team names its MVP with a gift awarded. A gala Awards banquet closes out your vacation.

OFF THE FIELD HIGHLIGHTS:
• Lots of partying at our fabulous 4-star “all-suite” resort: http://www.arizonagrandresort.com
• Afternoon and evening beer gardens
• Elaborate dinner buffets including an Opening night party and Jersey Parade, a mystery location dinner party, a potential Skills Competition, Awards banquet, late night parties, jersey trading, and unlimited networking with over 600 new friends.

WHY IS THE AD WORLD SERIES DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE REST?
A) Besides the 12-game guarantee, we party together. The theme is simply: "Play Ball By Day, Party At Night," and following each day's games, players
return to the resort and bond with terrific people throughout major and midsize United States markets, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

B) No long breaks between games, no early elimination, and if you want to play 12 games, you will.

C) There are hundreds of stories of business connections and friendships that develop here and last a lifetime. Incidentally, 42 introductions (over our 25-year history) have led to marriage.

D) Our players want to stay in classy, 4-star resorts.

E) Annual souvenir program - a glossy 272 pages filled with amusing softball-related advertising and editorial.

F) Every team receives "complimentary" souvenir program editorial and a chance to thank their sponsors.

G) Teams earns "significant" commissions to reduce trip expenses if they sell ads in the program. (Refer to Sponsorship Opportunity link on the website.) Teams can also earn commissions by bringing in overall sponsors that want to build brand awareness in front of an ideal demographic.

H) Every player receives merchandise in a duffel bag (or equivalent gift) filled with sponsor gifts (i.e., health remedies and food).

I) The Ad World Series video is professionally edited and debuts at the Awards banquet.

PLAYING RULES:
Participating team's talent level generally ranges from C to E level… ASA bat rules are observed… An extension is placed behind home plate and a called strike is any pitch that lands on the plate or extension… All batters start with a 1-1 count, and the second foul ball after two strikes is a strikeout… Game length is 65 minutes. 47 COR, 525
compression balls are used… Pitching arc limit is 15'… Unlimited home runs are permitted in division play, but a 1-up HR rule applies when playing a lower division team.

2008 TOURNAMENT FEES:
Lodging and banquet fees will be posted in May. Because the event package includes 4-star lodging over 4 nights, 3 evening buffet dinner parties, 7 beer gardens, a merchandise filled goodie bag for every player, souvenir t-shirt, and other gift surprises, player and team fees will be significantly higher than at a random weekend tournament. Although your team can play in a number of "elimination" tournaments in any given weekend, for 600+ players, the Ad Softball World Series represents the ultimate softball adventure.

NOTE #1: We will consider teams - that can't meet its fundraising goals - the opportunity to make reservations at a lower cost hotel near our resort. Players will still be required to pay fees for the nightly social package. However, as every World Series veteran will tell you, the tourney experience is much more complete when all fun-loving softball players stay together.

NOTE #2: It is also possible to place individuals on existing teams, so if you want to come check us out, give us a call.

ABOUT THE WEBSITE:
The 2008 site includes: the 2007 video (25 minutes), about 1,000 Las Vegas photos, standings, party photos, field action, and previews of the Arizona Grand Resort (Video + Photos), Oasis Water Park at the resort, Big League Dreams (Video + Photos), and Sponsorship Opportunity Links …AND THIS IS ONLY STAGE #1!

A more comprehensive site (Spring launch) will include team-by-team photo gallery links, stat pages, and a section for every participating team to thank and link-in their sponsors.

The bottom line is that if you’re looking for something sexier and classier that takes softball networking and partying to an entirely new level, then take a look at the Advertising Softball World Series. Enjoy the website and don't hesitate to ask questions. We’d love to have you join our line-up.

Did you read the part of the website where it says the average cost per player is $1500+?

lizard22
March 6th, 2008, 10:36 AM
Yes it is quite expensive and hence the reason for individual fundraising or team fundraising. Also, you have to look at the broad picture and everything you are getting for $1,500. It's not just softball that you're going for. You get a 5 day, 4 night stay at a 5 star resort, plus several buffets and parties to attend. You get 12 games of softball and a goodie bag full of everything. It's like combining a vacation with 2 or 3 softball tournaments included (depending on how many games you're used to playing in a tournament)!!!

yeah you stay 5 days 4 nights, buffet dinners, resort stay included which each one is a 2 room suite, somethin like 7 beer gardens, a goodie bag full of stuff, i think u play like 12 games, dont have to worry about getting eliminated early...it just all seems like a great time, and i received and email back from the guy and he said they will have the prices for sure in may but he said right now around $1350 a person on double occupancy and price goes down on triple and quad occupancy.

and with 8 months advance notice once we get our full squad we can start getting sponsorship/holding fundraisers/saving money ourselves
