this tournament is already on our schedule for our men's team...is there anyway you can play men's and coed? i know it may be difficult to schedule around so there is no conflicts but could it be done??

I would e-mail Terry Folino and ask how he plans to run the show. I know there are 11 diamonds available for the event so both the co-ed and E qualifiers will probably be at the same time. Yet as we all know its in how they schedule your game times. Here is his e-mail address:

are they going to sep. by class e,d,c or just combine them all?

If it is split, we are going to play.

June 4th, 2008, 12:38 PM
I would have to say it depends on how many teams show up. Last year they had two c teams, two d teams, four e teams and one church team. I believe everyone played together in a C/D class. However that was last year and hopefully we get more than nine teams and a good variety of classes so we can have separate divisions.

Currently:
Berry Softball Mixed D
Dented Bats Mixed D
T-N-T Mixed D (if this is the TNT from Cleveland)
Wizards Illes Mixed D
BBC Mixed E
Arnie's Prime Mixed B

HOW MANY TEAMS FROM EACH DIVISION DO YOU NEED TO SPLIT IT.

I don't know. I am not running the tourney I am just helping to promote it. That question needs to be directed to Terry Folino. tfolino@woh.rr.com

Hey Ballinbombers3, I know your mens team is E, but what about you co-ed (if you are able to put both teams in that is)?

Come on Cappy bring Steel up from Cincinnati for this event. Who knows with the rate things are going with co-ed tournaments being cancelled this might be all of our last chance to have a good one this year.

Also if anyone know's the coaches for Crosley's (Co-ed), or The Bomb Squad (Columbus) let them know about it and try to get them to show.

I think teams are tired of getting killed by the upper co-ed teams. This is a major problem from what I can see. If you want to bring co-ed back, one way is to advertise seperate divisions or have the RR against everyone then break into C, D, E divisions. I know girls that play E DO NOT WANT to play guys from C/D teams. With having a B team in this tournament, you will not get lower teams willing to donate their money just to say I played in the tournament. Just my 2 cents!

Believe me I understand. I know Arnie's played B last year yet they did not win a game against B or A level teams. The problem has always been getting enough teams to break out the division. I wouldn't mind only playing in my division. We already pound the teams in our league that are all E and I cannot imagine any of them wanting to play in a tournament against teams our level and above. It's ok to lose yet it sucks to alway get demolished.

our co-ed team has only been able to play once this year and it was in a round robin in kentucky

Great conversation...I love it!

I think I hear the concern, we need separate classes....and I think I saw the answer.

We need more teams to make that happen...I would be happy with at least 5 in each, the down side is that affects the prizes....but at least the competition is more fair - and I am all for that.

Trying to do the MEns E and coed at the same time would be a rel strugle, unless you had at least 15 guys and could play at same time...which could happen...

Now we are also having a E REC on Sunday....so that could be an answer if your teams in truly E Rec.

The best answer I saw - was let's play....we have the makings to make this a nice event, we are at 8 teams and we still have 3 weeks to go.

If the teams would commit and give me their teams names and classifications, I think we could grow the event even more by announcing 3 divisions C/D and E or C and D/E whichever way the spplit goes.

Thanks again

Terry

adding 2 more teams:

Evergreen Lawn Care
On Our Own

With a few more, I think we can split into 2 divisions...and then that should get us more E teams interested.

Keep them coming!

And don't forget - there is a women's division in this event being played on Sunday the 29th....we have had several inquiries....

Anyone interested in that?

Terry Folino
June 5th, 2008, 07:35 PM
we have added another: E coed team J&M Outkasts/Clayton Homes

so, give us another E coed team and I thinkwe can break them out~

Spread the news !

Thanks for the input....I hope we can make this a special event for your team...

Terry

Arni's says that they are a C team....

I think will have a separate E divisions with another entry or two.

I hope that clarifies the divisio breakouts.

Since I have not seen Arni's play - if some teams can provide statisical input (records of past tourney results, etc.), I will evaluate whether or not they are too strong for the D division. If so, then we will work on a separate division for the C.

Thanks again for your input - I want this to be a fair event for all to particiapte in.

But, I do need your input ......Terry

Have not found anything out for 2008 on this team. All I do know is they were B last year yet they went to A worlds and went 0-4 playing against Brian Wegman and Rusty Bumgardner. I would drop down to C as well. Looking at what is posted on the USSSA site they did decent against D teams yet did not blow them out or win every game either so I think they would be good for the competition in the D bracket. We look forward to playing them. Hope this helps.

Arni's has lost a lot of girls this year! The guys are still very good hitters. They have not done so great this year against other C teams, but the C teams I've seen them play should probably be B. It is a tough division this year.

How many girls teams do you have?

Terry Folino
June 6th, 2008, 07:47 PM
I don't ang any ladies team committed....but I have had inquiries...

One of the Legends inductees is a woman, and she is spreading the word in her circles...

I hope that we can get to 5 or so....

Early on, several coed teams said they were trying to make it a complete weekend - but haven't heard from them since then....

Be the first and sign on up!

Thanks

OK teams, we have listened.

We are going with a separate bracket for E coed teams....let's see the committments!

The C/D will be combined with an equalizer format to be determined....a set number of runs will be added for the D teams.

Spread the word and let's get this event rockin....

So far so good on the number of teams. Lets keep it going since Terry decided to break the tournament into divisions. We need more E-teams in it now. Lets make this thing worth while. We all keep complaining about how these co-ed tournaments are alway cancelled well now is our chance. Here are some other teams that we need in this event so if anyone knows the managers contact them and get them in it:

The Bomb Squad (Columbus)
Golden Jersey/Mader Electric (Springfield)
Ozzies (Columbus)
In House (Piqua)
Crosleys (Cincinnati)
Ballz Deep (Columbus)
D's Restoration (Cincinnati)
Touch em all (Cincinnati)
Stainless Solutions (Cincinnati)
Fun Bunch (Cincinnati)
Raiders (Cincinnati)
Speed Kills (Cincinnati)

And any others I forgot to mention. The more we have the better the tournament.

whats the format on this tourney. Just 3 game RR or whats the plan? Also is this just a national qualifier? or is this a state, national and world qualifier.

Also what does the breakdown of the divisions look like at this point in time. I'd like to see who all is playing.

ballinbombers3
June 10th, 2008, 05:30 PM
i really wish there was a way that E division and coed were at different times of the day or different days because then our men's team and coed team would DEFINITELY both be in.. make it really worth the trip to go play there

Terry Folino
June 10th, 2008, 06:51 PM
This event will offer State and National berths (unpaid)...I am checking into world berths for this event..obviously more entries will help the cause!

BBC
J&M Outkasts/Clayton Homes
On Our Own
Steel (inquired at least - thought I saw somewhere they were in if split out)
Arnie's Prime
TNT
Wizards
Evergreen Lawn Care
Dented Bats
LM Berry
Team OBI

Format is 3 game minimum...final format will be determined once we have a final count on all teams.

Saturday has COED and Men's E World Qualifier.

Sunday has Women's, Men's D, and E recreational division.

Hope this helps and look forward to seeing you in Dayton.

Thanks for all your help in getting the word out about this special event.

Berths are unpaid. Berths will be passed down, so please let me know your intentions as you enter the event.

If we can get to 24 teams, then 4 world berths will be awarded.

Bad News Bucks are E at best. Its funny you hear about teams sandbagging and playing down yet here is an example of an E team playing up. Chris the coach used to play for me so cudo's to you Chris although its hard to sandbag when you are at the bottom already. This is going to be one heck of a tournament.

The Last I had heard on the C/D was Wizards beat us 9-5 to go to the championships. Dented Bats was facing Speed Kills to see who played the Wizards in the finals. As far as the E Cobra Force Beat Dog Pound by one in the finals.
