View Full Version : Top "E" Teams in the Area?

diamondfreak31
June 2nd, 2008, 04:51 AM
As a member of the Diamond Freaks this is our 2nd year as a team, I feel we are a decent team among the area, and have held our own within the "E" Division thus far, just wondering what new teams may be out there that we haven't seen.

So far i've seen teams like Syndicate, Dixon, & Diamond Foolz to be some of the best "E" teams we've faced I know there has to be a ton more than we haven't crossed paths with yet this season.

I like this dirty dozen team but damn enough talk about them. Congrats but its over they didnt win world it was city slam. They will get better they are young and they have three good vets that will teach the young guys the game. Alot of softball left to be talking about a team that played in two tournys.

There are a lot of evenly matched good "E" teams which makes it fun because any one of them can get hot in a tournament and win it. Seems like the sames teams are always winning or almost winning in "D", "C", and "B".

E tends to be more luck of the draw and who is hot than anything this year. Well, now that Huber got bumped.

We played Dixon, Sibcy Cline & The Skinz???
They all have as good of squads as we've seen, and all 3 teams are flat out class guys.

Syndicate is good, they talk alittle smack but when your backing it up you can.

E is a ton of fun this year, any team on any given weekend can take home a

I wouldn't say being the best E team is something to be proud of, but I think you have to include Hodapp Funeral Home in the mix. After playing in the City Slam and seeing some of what was supposed to be the better E teams in the city, I would still say that us, Dirty Dozen, and Youngbloods are the top three and there is a slight drop off from there. I know not all teams played in the slam, but I think that if it was played again, those three teams would end up finishing 1-2-3 again and any one of those teams could have beaten one another (we knocked both of them out of the Metro last year). I would also give credit to KJ's Pub. That was a tough loss to take on a bloop against Youngbloods.

yes they are good. they have some great young guys. I played against them last year and it came down to a play at the plate in the 7th inning. one of their young outfielders was at the fence and fired a laser to home on target, but the ump called our guy safe.

Not so sure about the top 3 again. And we beat KJ's twice this year including once in this tournament but they finally got us 7-5 in the consolation bracket with us missing 3 starters. Not taking anything from KJ's they are a great bunch of guys and fun to play against.

There are allot of capable teams in E this year.
We've played alot of tourneys thus far, played you guys Saturday...and won.
I can honestly say your no better than anyone we've played thus far.
You guys have some talented young kids, some good older guys and a few crafty vets.

All that I meant about KJ's is that they had good veteran players that hit the ball well, which is how you beat a five-man. They put a good tournament together and if we had not had two good late innings and run-ruled them, they had the ability to come back on us.

No we did not play in the E slam. We have some young guys, and we are all either family or real close friends. We had a couple graduating that weekend, and would have been without 1/2 our team so we weren't able to get in it.

Terry, you know as well as I do that whoever is hot at the time will probably win. You can have all the talent in the world on 1 team, but if they are not playing well as a team, they are beatable. I agree with you that any team can be beaten on any given day.

4 from what I can think of by glancing at our roster. Me, Sam, Brian, You.

Top E team right now (since Huber got pushed up) that has given us our best games is Dixon. No matter the score, there is always a gut feeling that says we are going to have to hang on by a thread to beat them. We have missed a few of the big tourneys this year already so I haven't had a good look at alot of the teams. Hopefully soon we get to see what more of the local teams have to offer, and show them what we have as well.

All I am saying is you can't say a tournament outcome would be exactly the same at the top if you replay the bracket even without changes to the bracket.

Besides, the tournament is over and they don't hand out State, National, or World titles until August - September, so even "IF" you consider someone as a top team right now, that means nothing come the first pitch of the State Tournament.

That list seems to be pretty acurate, but you can never count us out when are actual team is on the field, and if The Naturals are who I think they are then watch out when either one of these teams come out of the cornfields and into the city LOL. These are two more teams to definetly consider when it comes to "E".

One other thing, with the amount of solid E teams right now maybe this can lead to a ressurection of the sport as we all start to move up divisions over the next couple years. Alot of solid teams with good people staffing them.

except there are plenty of E teams right now that used to be D teams, or have been bottom feeders for a while even though they are more than capable to play up... you know it's possible to move up without being bumped???

We would love to move up and play but with some young guys playing we want them to learn the game some more before moving up. They would learn alot moving up now but they wouldnt have as much fun getting beat a little more. Once they are ready we will be moving up.

I'm just a player for the Diamond Freaks but I'd have to say our team feels exactly the same as yours. We will make our move when we are ready It won't take long but a lot of our players either played for pick up teams & Leagues around from Wilmington to Mt. Orab so we are honestly a lot of newer players aswell.

What about the Naturals? and or the Diamond Freaks? Nobody on here has played either one of these teams.

we played both of these teams...we played The Naturals in a pitchers duel, we decided to play fastpitch for that game tied a record in softball with the lowest scoring game and lost 1-0, ill never forget that game, defense was insane for both teams...we played the Diamond Freaks once and beat them but dont remember the score

USSSAFairborn

Naturals played last weekend in the Memorial and was a 5/6 seed. I was surprised after watching them. Very solid pitcher, good fundamental defense, and hit the ball ok.

In my opinion, there is a Dayton team that might be one to watch that not many have seen. They are the WPAFB Sensors. Played in my D NIT and lost to Impact by only a few, then lost to Friends Bar & Grill (The old Tammy Lynn Inn) by 1. They have yet to play in an E World Qualifier though. They could be good.

Played against Dixon last year and watched them this year. Still a solid team. Have watched Titan/Express a few times. Good talent, seems like a complete on or off team. Either really on or really off. Those are really the only ones I can comment on from Cincy.

In Dayton, Cobra Force, American Legion Post 746, and BK Contracting are probably head of the class. Throw Backs are right in there with them if they can get more consistent pitching. Down and Dirty and Hack Shack could be good, but have yet to really put it completely together for a weekend.

In Columbus, Big Hogz, Newark Softball, Cotner, and Apex seem to head the class up in the Central for E.

That is all I have really seen to comment on. Hope to get a better look at some of the Cincy teams here in a few weeks!

All E teams suck!!! Especially Syndicate, and Titan, two of the worst teams in softball history.

Syndicate - the two gay long haired brothers should take up tennis. The oversized pitcher should just take up fishing or something, and don't get me started on their first baseman.

Titan - the manager is a idiot who picks fights with women, enough said!!!!

Thats the thing, there are a lot of good "E" teams, not alot of good "D" or "C" teams masquerading as "E" teams in the area. That why any team can win any tournament this year. Could some of the "E" teams be competititve in "D", sure, but I don't think they would dominate. To me State and Nationals mean more than the sandbagging joke that is Worlds.

I would have to say that the E is wide open if a team like the Dirty Dozen won the E slam. Good thing that most of the solid E teams moved up this year or E would be dominated by 2 or 3 teams. Makes for good tournaments though when going into it you know that anyone can win.

Hate to say it to you buddy but even if your team also wins State and Nationals in E you will not be the team of 2008 Your playing E remember, thats like calling The Dayton Dragons the major league team of the year.

Anyways, out of all the teams mentioned you know every year a few teams that nobody knows will show up at State and be very competitive aswell. I've seen teams that where just thrown together and bought their own berth then came out hitting and people thought they were some sandbaggers when really they where just a little league team wanting to play in a big tourney.

THE BIGGEST NAME IN SOFTBALL IN 2008?????????? There are going to be bigger and better stories in 08 than Dirty Dozen winning E slam. It is nno knock on Dirty Dozen but the slam is a local event when you guys go to state/national/worlds and dominate then we will be impressed. Hard Knocks won E slam last year and I played on several throw together teams that beat Hard Knocks and a couple of times run ruled them. Live it up though because it is something to be proud of but in my opinion Im more impressed by the 4th place finish in D. CONGRATS and good luck this year.

It has gotten better recently in regards to real "E" teams playing in Worlds.

Every team we played in Worlds last year was a competitive game. The year before was also. In 2006, we lost to the Bergen Dragons (2nd Place Finish) 7-6 in 8 innings (Had the last out of the game played perfectly and our 2nd Baseman moved our MI to a different spot on the field thinking the guys twin brother was up).
Last year, we lost to Hooters/D&C Landscaping (5th) 9-7 (Bases loaded 2 outs our LF hits a seed down the line. Their LF trips over his feet, falls, and catches the ball to end the game).

E Worlds, IMO, is matched pretty evenly.

The batch this year is much more evenly matched geographically with the move ups of ITEX, OC, Playmakers, Team CI, Wooster, Buckeye, Miller Builders, and a few others. It has been interesting to watch some of the newer teams play.

Are the Young Guns (Cy's team) still around this year? Had some really good games with them last year and enjoyed watching their team.

I don't believe all the "E" teams are all about stroking their egos, but I've been reading about the same team for a couple weeks and wanted to shed some light on the rest of us sitting here in Single A. LOL.

All of our teams could say they have hung with or beat some of these higher division teams but does that really matter?

We beat JTapps in a C-D-E round robin last year at Expressway, I could say we beat a D and now a C team, but honestly how would I know if they were a staffing their full squad that day? We played them once in two years. Sure it was nice to know we had the ability to beat them, but we have no clue if they were even playing their core group.

Just saying, you can talk about beat this team or that team once but that doesn't mean you are at a higher level.

I agree. We beat JLC last year in an equalizer. But we played by their rules (HR limit). We just happened to hit and play good defense. They didn't hit particularly well. That was just the one out of 20 times if we played them, we'd win.

I was just mentioning the fact that everytime some of these teams beats a team from a different division they gotta go and brag about themselves. I'm sure we might be able to hang with a lot of the teams around, but just because you beat a team with a known name (like J Taps) doesn't mean you are better than them.

The tourney where we beat them and two other teams, another D and a C from last year, we were on fire, hitting lasers down the lines and playing great defensive, but a few weeks later we went to State and met a team nobody knew and we played flat. Which just goes to show you can't count anyone out on any given Sunday.

points have nothing to do with how good you are. If that was true the saints would be the best team in the city for years. Also just cause you win a tourney like the city slam don't mean you are the best team in the city. Wait till the big ones when it is two and out and lets see which teams survive a real tourney. In that format dnd would of been done early in the slam. But I give them credit for forgetting about the round robin and coming out strong in the two and out.

I agree, I loved watching them, except when they kicked our arses last year at the D State. Anyways, like it or not, you won't be seeing the same Younguns team that you saw last year.

If I recall correctly, we beat them both times we played them.... 6-5 and 4-3. Both were good games with a lot of talk but some really good pitching and defense. I remember watching them play a team from Illinois at National and it was by far the most interesting game of the year in the E Class. ALOT of S**t talking in that one.

Like I said though, I agree, I believe it is pretty wide open for anyone to take State in Ohio. I would venture to guess there will be some strength from Michigan and Indiana at Nationals.
