For those of you who didn't know already, I guess it is new in USSSA this year that you do NOT have to run out a 4-base error anymore. I was told this by an umpire this past weekend.
Maybe I'm behind the times already, but I do recall many people saying "run it out" after it happened to us. So, I just wanted to let everyone know if you didn't know already.

I honestly think the four base error should be done away with. Why penalize and outfielder for trying to take away a HR and make a great play. I mean as we have seen and heard on other post with the balls and bats beings as hot as they are anyone can hit it out. Reward the defence

No runs shall score if a ball is hit into the gap and the outfielder dives for the ball, because he was trying to make a great play.

Yep just like your one of those guys to go running from behind the plate to try to distract the batter!

You got me! I didn't think anyone was watching.
I just think it was funny how much fire you had to beat Jtaps and then go and tell them to "play House Rules in the consolation bracket." I mean if you are going to start popping off at the gums don't go and lay a goose egg your next game.

If you knew what that was about then you could flap your gums. When you have players on your team hear a certain coach say "well, we'll be playing House Rules" yeah you do get a little extra fire to play them.

Easy there boss! Actually, what I said was...we will be playing House Rules. I didn't even know who they were playing to get to us I just knew it didn't really matter to me. They were on fire in the month of May and I would take them against just about any USSSA C team including us. You're right I think House Rules is a better team then you guys week in and week out...I think they are a better team than us week in and week out. If we were playing EAP and somebody played the loser and I heard them say "We will be playing J Taps" I would be okay with it...A BETTER TEAM, MORE PROVEN! On top of that, it wasn't really like you guys were on fire to start the weekend. Wow...I can give you guys a pep talk before every game if that's what it takes to get motivated. Who cares!

On the flip side - we had a crappy May so I was looking for anything I could to get em fired up. What you said was something I would have said about you guys too given how hot HR has been. They told me what you said and I jumped on that and who knows, maybe it gave my guys that 1% more edge. Or.....maybe I got lucky and we won the toss which was what that game was all about....last batter wins.
It worked this time. We're past that now as I am sure you guys are.

So i guess the 4 bases error is still in effect???
Jhamp no hard feelings, After you guys beat HR and then JTaps. I thought we were going to have a tough game on our hands. Three hard games in a row will do it to you.
Talk to you all later I am off line for the rest of the day.
Is cincy softball in for this weekend at Pastime????

None taken, Kess. Wish we could have put up more of a challenge in that game. Not excuses, we didn't hit.

We were running/batting/fielding on fumes. It could have been the fumes coming from the Great American Ballpark's men's room trash can behind section 135!!

I agree. the 4 base error has happen to me twice in my short 4 year carer in left center. One time I touched it and one time the ump thought i touched it. since the last instance i just give up on balls and play off the fence. giving a team an extra home run can be huge in a close game. I think it definitely changes the way you go after a ball on the fence.

I agree with Kessler.. If a ball is hit that good and a outfielder actually attempts to make a play on it.. Either way it should be a Hr, Not a 4 base error.. The umps can't tell half the time anyways. Our outfielder went to catch a ball and hit it but the ump claimed it a Hr.. Give the Outfielders a chance to make a great play without diving..
