Just wanted to throw this out there, since everything else seems to be about some teams who are classy, not classy, respectful and disrespectful.

After the Diamond Foolz and Dixons game on Saturday morning, the two teams gathered on field afterwards and had a prayer for Ivan W and his family. Why I heard someone say that, "Hey, this isn't church league", I thought it was a real classy move and gesture by both teams. With all the talk about teams fighting, being classless, disresepctful and thinking that they are bigger than the game, I thought this needed to be mentioned. You may find teams that are good, you may find teams that are classy, but I thought this was a genuine act of class by two good teams.

I debated about putting anything on here about it, but I thought it deserved the props with all the negative junk on here lately.

From what I saw of their game, no trash talk, there was fun and joking amongst both teams, and just playing ball that right way. Very nice guys, good to see that things like that can happen on the field, and it doesn't have to be church league. Winners in my book. Great sportsmanship with a little extra.

The game needs more scenarios such as this. If I (and our team) was there, we would have liked to participate.

Can't believe someone ran their mouth about it "not being a church league" but had to be somebody that didn't know what has gone on with Ivan. Having played Dixon over the years, they rarely get into any arguments whether they are up or down.

I was there and it was a sweet moment in time when a group of men can gather around
and lift up a hurting brother to the Lord. That's what it's all about.
We had a good game and it was played the way they are supposed to be played.
Dixon has a good bunch of guys...as do we, The Diamond Foolz.

Not to hijack this thread but I want to give a shout out to "The Skinz"
We played them 8 innings and lost 26-24 in City Slam.
They are another group of great guys.
The game was one of the funnest I've ever played and it never once got ugly
even as the tention got greater and greater.

Hats of to the guys that do it the right way!!!

With all that has happened on the field in the past couple weekends of softball in this area, we need to stop and remember we are playing a game and we all have lives outside of this game. We still need to remember Ivan and his family in our prayers and thoughts... and continue to help him out in his time of need. I believe there are still spots open for the raffles of jerseys and other items.

I have never had any problems with Dixon. They are, by far, the best group of guys to play against. You can have them down by 100 and they will still be out there playing it the right way.
As far as the gathering after the game...that was the most powerful thing I have ever experienced. DK is right...this is just a game. We need to remember that. None of us gets paid to play this game. After that game with Dixon, when we all gathered together after the game, I was reminded of that.
My heart really goes out to Ivan and his family as I can only imagine what they are going through. I have 4 kids from 4-9 and I wouldn't know how I could handle losing one of them. Props to all involved!!!

I just wanted to say a thank you from all of the Dixon guys, we really appreciate all you have done for Ivan. Thanks also for the kind words about our team, most of us have grown up alot the past few years by watching how those who came before us have done it the right way. I hope to have a beer with all of you soon.
